WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Why did we pick the name Research Narrative? Simply put, our practice is rooted in the belief that research is storytelling. We’ve collaborated with writers, directors, producers, and programmers, and we understand that talented researchers tell stories just as well as talented entertainers. Research is ultimately about developing insights and action plans. It’s about finding and conveying the story in the data.

Data without story is just a fact. And decades of cognitive science research indicate that stories are more memorable and persuasive than facts. Research and Narrative are like peanut butter and jelly; they’re meant to go together. If data tells us what the insight is, it’s the story that brings that insight to life, that connects with us emotionally. Data and story together give us the confidence to imagine possibility and the motivation to take action to achieve it.
